How to Prepare your Car for Summer

Summertime brings idyllic images of family vacations, days by the sea and ice cream enjoyed on a hot sunny day. It is a time for adventures, for exciting road trips and for family gatherings at vacation cottages in beautiful places. Unlike the cold months of winter, summer offers long days and warm temperatures that beckon you to come enjoy the outdoors. It is the season when life is the best it can be.

If you want to make the most of your summer adventures, you’ll need to make sure your car is in top shape and running right. When your vehicle is ready for the road, you can confidently plan any excursion and have peace of mind knowing you will get there fine. As summertime approaches, one of the things you will want to do is schedule an appointment with your Belmore mechanic so they can make sure your car is ready for summer and the open road.

Be Sure Your AC Is Working Great

When you are out and about in the Australian summer heat, or off on a summertime road trip, you will want to know that your air conditioner is working great. After a winter when you didn’t even use the AC, it’s a good idea to get it inspected by a good Belmore mechanic.

To avoid cooling that is not optimal, have your automotive centre give the system a once over, and see if a regas is needed to keep things running perfectly. You will also want them to check the filter, refrigerant hose and vents.

Check Your Vehicle’s Fluid Levels

Before you go on a road trip, be sure to check all of the fluid levels in your car or truck. First, check the oil level and make sure you are okay there. Also, if the oil is dark instead of amber, it may indicate you need an oil change.

Your engine coolant also needs to be checked. Make sure it is filled between the minimum and maximum levels. If your coolant is rust-coloured, or contains particles, have your mechanic check it out.

Get Your Car Inspected Before Your Trip

If your plans include a lengthy out of town adventure, ask your automotive centre to inspect and check out your vehicle before you leave. They will be able to check out the belts and hoses, and can take a look at the brake, transmission and power steering systems.

Your automotive centre can also make sure your tyres, and your spare, are properly inflated.
